Dr. Shelley Hoover, Biological Sciences, University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
Dr. Shelley Hoover is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Lethbridge, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Her research focuses on honeybee health and management, queen production and breeding, and nutrition, as well as canola pollination. Previously, Shelley was the head of the Apiculture Program for the Province of Alberta and has held Research Associate positions at the Universities of Canterbury and British Columbia. Shelley is also the past President of the Canadian Association of Professional Apiculturists and the Entomological Society of Alberta.

Sarah MacKell, MSc (she/her) Lead Biologist – Native Pollinator Initiative, Wildlife Preservation Canada, Guelph, Ontario, Canada
Sarah MacKell is an ecologist and conservation biologist whose focus is on pollinator conservation in Canada, especially bumble bees. She has an MSc in Biology from York University where she investigated whether there is competit between honey bees and wild bees in the Greater Toronto Area. Currently she is the Lead Biologist for Wildlife Preservation Canada’s Native Pollinator Initiative, where she mainly focuses on the Bumble Bee Recovery Program. The program’s mission is to recover at-risk bumble bee species in Canada by leading conservation breeding and release techniques, population monitoring, field and lab research, and community science, while collaborating with partners across species’ ranges. In addition, she assists with reintroductions of the Endangered Mottled Duskywing at Pinery Provincial Park, as part of the Ontario Butterfly Species at Risk Recovery Team.
